So okay, maybe it’s not so pointless. Indulgent? Sure. But I can see where there’s a market for computers that don’t take up space. I don’t know what you’d want to make a kiosk out of it, but for less than two thousand dollars, it’s really not that outrageous.

My main problem is … it’s a pen. But it sort of … got turned into a luxury items. Sure, it’s durable — and hey, it can withstand any number of temperatures, cold or hot, I guess. So, that’s great! If you get trapped in a volcano or on a glacier, your pen will be fine.

But wait, that’s not all! It has a flint right in its barrel. Okay, it’s artificial flint, but that will still let you start a fire — if you have some magnesium handy, of course.

And hey! The cap glows in the dark!

To be fair, the pen was first designed for people exploring in the South Pole. So even though you are not an explorer, you can write like you.

You guys can probably tell before I even say anything why this item caught my eye. Specifically, it is the Pineider Leather Clad Travel Desk, and it grabbed my fancy because, hey, I’m a writer!

It is a sad fact that in this day of laptops and text messages, no one really takes the time to write letters anymore, let alone to write anything longhand. Having a writing desk, whether it is made to travel or not, has practically become an eccentricity.
